Posted by jack

As part of its ongoing plan to maintain the highest quality and production capacity in the fiberglass and dual laminate industries, Augusta Fiberglass and its sister company B&D Plastics have added new state of the art pipe winders to the arsenal of equipment at the Augusta Fiberglass home plant in Blackville, S.C. and at B&D Plastics in Ocean Springs, Mississippi

While pipe production has always been a staple of the Augusta Fiberglass / B&D product lines, the addition of the new equipment means that pipe in lengths up to 40’ and in any diameter can now be produced with even greater quality and at a faster pace. Augusta Fiberglass and B&D Plastics have craftsmen with decades of experience who are highly qualified and skilled in the fabrication, repair and installation of pipe and duct of all sizes. The new fiberglass pipe winders will greatly enhance their ability to bring their skills and knowledge to bear for customers.

In addition, B&D Plastics excels in the production of dual laminate pipe and in the repair and installation of that pipe. Customers who need pipe or duct can look to many successful projects completed by Augusta Fiberglass and B&D Plastics, on time, safely and to specification. From the smallest duct and pipe to duct for power plants that exceeds 20’ in diameter, these 21st Century fiberglass / dual laminate pioneers have led and are leading the way. The new pipe winders strengthen their offerings of pipe and duct.

But production of pipe is not the whole story. Both Augusta Fiberglass and B&D Plastics have teams with decades of experience and knowledge in the installation and repair of pipe and duct. From small repairs and emergencies to the creation, transportation and installation of duct with diameters in excess of 20’ Augusta Fiberglass and B&D Plastics have been there when needed with skilled, safe crews who understand and appreciate the customer’s need for quality, to spec work.

Augusta has also made it easier for customers to obtain project pricing. Use of the quote form on the Augusta website www.augustafiberglass.com immediately connects engineers and project managers with the best team of engineers and sales associates in the fiberglass industry.

Augusta Fiberglass and B&D Plastics Expanding West

The strategic alliance formed between Augusta Fiberglass and B&D Plastics continues to advance into new frontiers by expanding into the Angleton Texas area.

Under the leadership of John Boyd and Tom Reeves this powerful team of companies has for decades offered the highest quality of products and service throughout the United States and beyond. With the addition of the Angleton Texas office, Augusta Fiberglass and B&D Plastics will now offer its services and products to Western markets from a more convenient location. Drawing on a rich experience in the areas of inspection repair and field modification of Fiberglas and dual laminate equipment, this is a natural move that will benefit customers throughout Texas and beyond.

With B&D Plastics having earned the right to certify Fiberglas and dual laminate vessels as RTP-1, the product offering from Blackville South Carolina, the home office of Augusta Fiberglass and Ocean Springs Mississippi the home office of B&D Plastics and the new facility in Angleton Texas is unrivaled in the industry.

Since the Angleton team will initially concentrate on field work, it is worth noting that from its inception 40 years ago Augusta Fiberglass has led the industry in those services. This includes the repair and maintenance of Fiberglas vessels, duct, scrubbers and other equipment regardless of the original manufacturer as well as the field fabrication and assembly of large, complicated Fiberglas vessels. B&D Plastics has extensive experience on its own and can also quickly draw from its relationship with Augusta Fiberglass. Augusta Fiberglass has a team already on hand in Ocean Springs where shop fabricated vessels are created and crews are ready to move out at a moment’s notice. The Texas facility will place those same talents readily at hand to the industries in Texas and beyond.

The facility at Angleton Texas, which is already fully staffed and equipped for any field work that might be needed, will soon grow to include up to date shop fabrication facility complete with a full complement of mandrels, chopper guns, cranes and skilled workmen to use them

Augusta Fiberglass plans for the possibility of a renewed need for stack liners and fiberglass vessels for American power plants

Augusta Fiberglass, a pioneer in the construction, fabrication and erection of Jet Bubbler Reactor Vessels and Stack Liners has initiated an internal review of those projects so that the company will be ready to meet possible future needs as the winds of change in governmental attitudes driven by necessity appear likely.

The Jet Bubbler Reactor Vessels are the largest fiberglass vessels ever produced being 119 feet in diameter and 64 feet tall.  To fabricate these vessels, Augusta developed unique methods of construction including using a rail road track to allow the giant mandrels to turn. Complete buildings were constructed to protect the vessels during fabrication. Once the vessels were completed the buildings and mandrels were removed leaving the completed free standing vessels ready for connection to the furnace system.

Augusta also provided more than 11 miles of large diameter stack liners for the power industry with many in excess of 700 feet in height. The engineering of the liners required finite element analysis and precise calculations to insure proper laminate properties and alignment. Installation placed great pressure on the workmen who applied the seams and kept the sections in line. Other standard fiberglass reinforced tanks, duct, pipe and scrubbers were also provided.

As America moves forward, if Coal is once again recognized for what it can do for American Power, Augusta Fiberglass will be ready to resume its position as the leader in Fiberglass Fabrication for the power industry.
